The serps seem to update constantly.
I’ve read in seo forums that they do update daily, but sometimes it doesn’t seem that way.

As far as PR goes, the way I’ve heard it is that the page rank you see on the google toolbar (the little green indicator) is never up-to-date, and whatever attempts you’ve made in the past 6 weeks or so won’t show up until the next update – in another 3 months.
There are online tools that give a more more accurate measure of a site’s link popularity, such as this one at Marketleap.com: http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/default.htm .
I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy, but it’s fun to play with. :1circling
