Also . . many affiliate programs will not accept you anymore unless you have a top level domain. They feel you don’t have a serious commitment to your business if you are using free hosting.
Free hosting doesn’t give the impression of a stable business.

Starting any business involves an investment of some sort, albeit a lot less in this business than in most. In this business the monetary investment can be as big or as small as you want it to be. The biggest investment will be your time! I have devoted literally thousands of hours to the success of my business over the past six years.
Other than that . . for the price of a domain name and inexpensive hosting . . voila, you’re in business.
