My power just came back on 45 minutes ago. Been out since 9:15 Friday
thanks to Charley. And God, I’ve never loved A/C so much!With no power and no phone for two days it’s been tough getting any news, so
I have no idea how hard you area was hit. Our entire subdivision, and all
those close by, look like a bombed out war zone. I lost over half the
shingles on my roof and have a little water damage inside, lost about half
of a 65′ tall Sycamore tree, a quarter of another Sycamore tree, and about
1/2 the fence in my backyard. Charley snapped the 4″ x 4″ fence posts off
right at the ground level. Also lost a good portion of all my
landscaping — the most expensive plants, of course.Power was off just long enough that I lost everything in the refrigerator
and the freezer I have in the garage. Had one hell of a BBQ today though.
BBQ’ed almost all the meat that was in the freezer and passed it out to all
the neighbors. Figured that was better that just watching it rot.All of that being said, we actually fared better than most around here.
Some houses lost most of their entire roof (sheeting and all) and other have
houses and cars crushed under trees.
