I don’t think they set May 1 as a death date. Both Google and Yahoo are still showing such ads in the US, but I doubt they will survive the month.
There was a date in one of my correspondences from Google of April 27, but I didn’t start seeing my ads get pulled until today.
When I spoke with someone at Google, they did indicate that actual humans will be exercising editorial discretion over the process of removing ads and approving new ads. So I would imagine they’re working away like good little soldiers.
