Poker Maven Awards to Recognize Contributions Made for Women in Poker

March 26, 2010 (CAP PR Wire) — Woman Poker Player Magazine is pleased to announce the first Annual Poker Maven Awards. The Poker Maven is awarded for outstanding achievement in female associated movements and accomplishments in the poker industry. There are fifteen categories open for nominations in its inaugural year.

Awards will cover all areas of women in poker from the most female friendly online poker room to the poker employee that has contributed the most to promote or encourage the growth of women in poker. The outstanding female poker player for 2009 will also be named.

“I wanted to do something to push the poker industry to start thinking more about the women who play.” said Maryann Morrison, editing manager of Woman Poker Player. “It doesn’t mean that the industry needs additional women’s only events, there are other ways to market to the female demographic. It equates to the recognition and support of women, their potential, and their advancement in this industry.”

Everyone has a chance to nominate who they believe is the most deserving of each award. Nominations will be compiled after the closing date of March 31, 2010, and official voting for each category will be announced.

The category list can be viewed, and nominations can be made online at http://www.womanpokerplayer.com.
