One of the best examples I can think of in our industry is this site: http://en.casino-lemonade.com – its use of color depicts the era and theme matches this to a T!
Albeit your maintaining a minimalistic appearance. But I still think setting the right color up from the get go is paramount and a make or break decision when it comes to site design/theme layout.
I checked out your site on my favorite Mobile Phone Emulator and your mobile theme is not activated. Something else you might want to look at.
