I agree 100% with Warren on this one. We’re at the point where we build sites and don’t expect to earn anything on them for at least a year so be patient. Also don’t overdevelope a new site. Start with a few pages and slowly add to it to target new keywords. This way google will expect to find new content and will visit your site more often. You want to reach a point where you post a new page of news story and it gets indexed immediately.
A mistake I see a lot of new webmasters doing is going live before the site is finished. Build the site first, then go over every page and analyze everything to make sure you didn’t miss anything or make a critical error. There are tons of free tools you can use that will help you optimize your site. Then go live and wait.
