Warren, I am sure your explanation is appreciated and as they say there are two sides to every story. What you said here is consistent to what I have previously heard and helped me as well others put parts of the giant jigsaw together. My interest in the recent happenings at CAP of solely been from a business perspective and concern for the right ROI for the clients I represent. Not dissimilar to youself I also am a businessman and as such need to look after the best interests for myself and of course the clients I represent.
I would like also to see within the changes at CAP to be assured a guaranteed ROI for sponsored program listing. What are you doing to expand CAP and expand the presence of the programs who sponsor CAP and help them get new affiliates? Currently I see any additional effort to recruit new affiliates is done by more additional sponsorship. Personally I would like to see this abolished or it makes it hard to justify the large media spend at CAP.
I am sure several programs here will give you a second chance, but take heed of what has been said, and the money programs have spent here.
Simon,
The first change I would like to make is to our “certification” — I fully realize and admit that there is no validity here and it is nothing more than a sponsorship opportunity. I envision us changing the actual sponsorship to something like “Featured on CAP” or “Listed on CAP”. Secondly, I would like to develop an actual, unpaid certification for programs once they are listed; it is my goal to offer something transparent and of true value to affiliates. It will be more complex then a simple “stamp” and will offer some individual insight into what a program’s strengths are.
In terms of additional value to listed programs, this is one of the primary reasons why we brought Bob on. I understand CAP has grown to over 100 programs and the value has somewhat diminished. Bob will be tasked with revamping our offering and ensuring there is additional, unpaid value for all. I also see your concern with the paid additional sponsorships and I am placing an immediate halt to that as well. We also plan on offering an incentive to the programs which choose to remain at CAP, although the falloff of others is almost inevitable at this point.
