Warren,
Thanks for posting your viewpoint on the actions of the last few months. I obviously can’t comment on the internal CAP wranglings and personalities, ownership squabbles, management direction, and pending lawsuits that have been going on – and that will probably still continue for some time. But this more detailed explaination for your side is a start.
I’m also aware that you and the other shareholders walked along with your eyes open as CAP engaged in some quite ruthless and predatory behaviours regarding other affiliate sites and initiatives. While your candour now is welcomed – saying MEA CULPA is a start – but it does not change the fact that you’ve gone along with the direction for an extended period.
Legal threats, unsubtle direction of programs to avoid competitors, and a whole raft of very dubious business practices. This would appear to me to be much more than one man’s direction and all the officers at CAP need to take a long hard look at prior behaviour.
However, putting aside past issues …
It’s good to see a committment from CAP / CakePoker that all CardSpike affiliates will be paid all outstanding monies.
The suggestions that you’ve outlined will also engender some goodwill, especially if the search for the advisory board is cast far and wide to include some of the quality people – even if (and perhaps especially if) they’ve been vocal in the recent outbursts and discussions around conflicts of interest.
People like Casinomeister, J.Todd, Michael Corfman, Dominique, Jeremy Enke who all have a great standing within the affiliate community and their inclusion could do a lot to speed up the healing process. There are many other good candidates too.
Having suitable representation from the programs would also be a good idea to try and reflect the new balance that CAP is aiming for as an industry marketplace and business portal.
We all understand that fees are charged and money is required to make the whole thing operate, most of us are business people too, but the communial voice seems to be speaking clearly … MAKE YOUR BUSINESS PRACTICES TRANSPARENT.
Of course there will be some outstanding ill will, and to be quite frank it’s likely that most people (myself included) will probably put the whole organisation very much on a trial basis to see if these changes can be implemented.
I used to like to come here to do business, keep abreast of industry issues, and swap experiences with fellow affiliates. I’d like that experience again in the future.
