I have to say… Godaddy was very very smart to provide a turnkey solution for affiliates back in 2000 or so.
On my opinion, that is what pushed them to the top. While network solutions was selling a domain for $30, I could resell it for $15 or so. Now you apply that chance to 1000s of webmasters… boom you are number 1.
I used their full-server services for few servers back in (2004) but didn’t like at all. We got one server hacked in 2 months or so and I just heard a “not our problem. Good luck” right the way. Luckily for us their were not the only one in the market and we did have external backup of all clients.
