I am going to make a completely non-party comment, not exactly what was asked here, but these are things I want to see:

1. Fix the national debt. Stop spending money like it grew on trees. As long as we are in such deep debt we are NOT any kind of power, we are growing to be other nation’s pet because we have to toe the financial line or give back in other ways. Additionally, the economy will suck until we get out of debt. Doesn’t anyone see that? There is no free lunch!

2. Return freedoms to people. Stop micromanaging people’s lives. This goes from getting rid of recently granted excessive powers to government to regulating reproduction, having banks tell us what we can do with our own money (particuarly worrysome) and small things like whether or not you can plant flowers in your front yard or have to have a lawn. The US is supposed to be the land of the free – let’s bring that back. It’s gone.

3. Rebuild our own country and not others. New Orleans still isn’t fixed. People are on welfare by the droves. Sick people can’t get medication or treatment. How can you have a strong nation when so many of it’s members are weak? Don’t give money away, create jobs and with these fix our own ills! Yes, I think even government needs to spend money to create more money. Working people create jobs by spending money, and they pay back to the government with taxes. When did we forget that simple principle? Put unemployed people to work fixing our own problems. People need a reason to be proud of themselves and their country – that creates strength!

4. Create a strong military that takes care of it’s own like it used to. Where have all the military hospitals gone? Where are the vet benefits? Why didn’t the military have a hand in rebuilding New Orleans? Again, you cannot be a strong country without a strong population. Look at history over the centuries.

And lastly, I am really sick of the mud slinging in elections. It’s disgusting and detracts the everyday Joe from the real issues. It creates elections where the people who vote base their decision on who can sling more mud. Nuts.
