“With absolutely no disrespect to you” the Free Gas promotion is really not a conspiracy of the JF to harvest emails, wait til everyone has cleaned cookies and then scoop up traffic that affiliates have brought.
When I pointed out to them that by sending emails with their own tags, they are overriding affiliate tags, they IMMEDIATELY deleted all tags from their emails. This was simply a factor they had not considered.
That said….as I wrote earlier, they have committed to collecting the original banner tags along with the emails from the Free Gas pop-up so that they will merge the affiliate banner tag into their future emails. Unfortunately, I could not get an update on this today, but didn’t want to wait to respond here. I will get and post an update tomorrow.
