If you have the cash go vBulletin, otherwise, phpBB has many mods that can be added including SEO mods. It also has a mod installer called Easy Mod that allows you to easily update the whole installation.
One thing I should recommend is that when tinkering with phpBB: back it up regularly.
This will help if you add a mod and something goes wrong and you have to roll back to old code.
