I live in Ontario Canada , specifically Toronto .It makes me mad to see them down at Queens Park (Provincial Government Buildings) passing bills to stop online gambling ads when people will freeze to death in the streets this winter as they do every year.
Gambling winnings are tax exempt in canada so I think they governments are starting to realise they need to get a piece of this online gambling pie.Local newspapers have written articles lately suggesting ontario may be leaning towards opening online versions of Casino Rama ,Niagra etc.
Canadians are not home free on this gambling issue. I have copies of correspondence between scotiabank and a former customer of theirs who is suing them.Scotiabank closed their bank account because they had $1000 a week in firepay and this person won $15,000 in a 5 week period. The wires in the account put them on the radar.Scotiabank lawyer stated USA GAMBLING LAWS and the fact 30% of their holdings are in USA as a reason they made a ‘business decision’ not to allow any gaming transactions through their bank accounts.
Usemybank has already had to go to court to keep their business alive in canada . http://www.canlii.org/ca/cas/cact/2005/2005cact38.html
If we don’t get Steven Harper out next time , we will probably be going through the same stuff. The planet is probably in the worst shape it has ever been in , seniors are freezing to death in their homes , going without medication. There is not enough home care for those who need it. People in Canada have to go to USA for cancer treatments or die here waiting and The Province of Ontario decides they have to make a move on gambling.
Way to go Dalton McGuinty ,Dont even get me started on the gangs and violence in the city , ONTARIO HYDRO Debt and the Farmer’s issues. We need real people in politics , not those with trust funds and in the pockets of the corporate workers.
Oh and my oldest daughter is in 9th grade in the public school system and the only way they get any activities is if we cover the costs .Last year the free school system cost me $800.00 cash to suppliment what was suppose to be covered in the $3900.00 I paid in property tax on my home or maybe it was the $11304.82 in income tax I paid that was suppose to cover it.
Sorry Professor if this is not suppose to be here but had to add my 2 cents
