I quess I will throw in my 2cents. But let’s put some things into perspective. I have read more than my share of fear mongering over this Bill’s passage. Nothing has swayed my decission to stay in the game. My ISP is located in U.S. and I operate an informational gambling site where I received no monies directly from the American public. Therefore, How would I be prosecuted. Find one law that shows this to be untrue.

The existing state and Federal laws that address the tranportation of wagering information over telephone lines and wires(wire Act) are legislations formed during the pre-internet era. The wire act was needed to fight criminal activities that occur over the phone lines, bookies, extortion etc… As many in congress have mention the wire act is outdated and needs to be amended.

On November 1, 2001 Bob Goodlatte After several failed attempts introduces a new bill. This time around, the bill does not apply to state lotteries, horseracing ,and Native American owned casinos. Again the the bill failed why?

One real good answer is the current Internet technology is to complex and difficult to find a unanimous decision on a global scale. The U.S Government has no power in this area.

Theoritically say that they did. The U.S Government could actually take down online gambling information sites. Would this not violate your first amendment rights?

The U.S has gotten this far because there has been no constituional challenges. Imagine this going before the courts. The judge will try to impose the law but cannot because there isn’t one for webmasters.

In any case, I keep my site and will put up any banner I choose. I am not a lawyer but common sense goes along way. They take out U.S based affiliates this would set off a precedent of proportions never seen before. Some call this the Moral bill, the government is saying online gambling is bad and should be abolished? I can find worse stuff on the www than online gambling to corrupt my brain. Parents have the descretion and duty to keep their children safe from the internet. There are filters the same ones that come with T.V’s.

The programs pulling out of the U.S market will be back or they haven’t even left.

Find me one law banning U.S based online gambling webmasters.
