The story
A Vegas event organizer told an operator, whose event he was organizing in Vegas for this week, that his relative from the Vegas Sheriff’s Office told him that there are approximately 400 warrants to arrest people for their involvement in online gaming in the US.
Possibilities
1. There are 400 warrants in the Vegas Sheriff’s Office to arrest online gaming operators/people at the CAC event – this isn’t what was said.
2. There are 400 warrants in the Vegas Sheriff’s Office to arrest online gaming operators/people coming into Vegas this week – this isn’t what was said.
3. There are 400 warrants in the US to arrest executives from high profile/public sports betting and other online gaming operators – on the basis of the most recent arrests, this is a strong possibility but not what was said either.
What this means for CAC Vegas and being in Vegas this week
It wasn’t at all specified that the 400 warrants were to arrest online gaming operators/people at the CAC event or in Vegas this week and making this assumption is a highly unlikely extrapolation of the actual story.
But it does serve to warn us that all executives from high profile/public sports betting and other online gaming operators that are situated outside of the US need to be very concerned about entering the US.
That’s my take from what I learnt.
