I have to agree this does not happen in real life. In real life the judge agrees with whatever the cop says and you remain fined. I dont even know why they bother having the judicial system, I guess they have to give the illussion of justice.
I feel for you, here in Canada I have had to pay some really stupid ass fines and there is nothing I can do about it. For example I had lasik eye surgery and have perfect vision. About a year after this some cop randomly pulls me over, he looks at my license and asks if I have contacts in, I can see what he is getting at so I decide to be honest (big mistakes never be honest with them) I tell him I had surgery, he decides I am lying fines me over $200 for driving without glasses.
Not only do I have to pay that stupid fine, but I had to pay to get an eye exam (apparently the receipt for the eye surgery is not enough) I had to pay for a new and updated license that had the requirement for eyewear removed (i didn’t even know it was there in the first place). All in all it cost me over $400 for 1 stupid cop thinking he is god’s gift to humanity.
I dont care what people say. outside of drinking and driving and obvious dangerous driving traffic enforcement is nothing but a hidden tax. It’s funny how they can devote 80% of thier resources to this but they cant send someone over to investigate BNEs and people robbing your house blind.
I’m in Canada but we have nearly identical systems when it comes to this. I could share a lot more stories but there’s no point. But trust me I am as frustrated with this joke of a legal system as you are.
