This doesn’t surprise me at all. We’re talking about a government that likes to spend over 50% of its budget on the military. This is not counting the amount that is spent on ‘homeland security’
They cant afford to provide proper healthcare, but they can afford to have researchers modifying and creating new strains of small pox.
They cant afford providing shelter to the homeless but they can afford sticking billionaires in jail at 100k a year a pop.
This is not a shock. This is the US government, it’s simply become too large and too powerful for its own good and the good of the world.
This gambling thing does suck. But let’s not forget we are talking about a country here that refuses to sign a landmine treaty, even when landmines kill thousands of innocents a year. A nation that refuses to ban the testing of nuclear weapons within its own borders.
