If I offended anybody I am sorry, but I think now things are moving in the right direction.

Combined with the very warm remarks and of course the scraped bottle of ouzo I feel more than happy to return!! CAP is my favourite place to be and always will be. I would appreciate if this was read by some.

During World War 2 George Stibiz developed in simple terms a calculator. As the techonlogy grew along side the cold war becoming more of a threat Licklider developed a Itergaltic network. The main purpose of this developement was a concern of the U.S Militaries over communication in case of a nuclear strike.

In 1968 Baran took things and step further. He proposed a network system that could be used for computers to communicate with via phone lines. The method he suggested was the use of packets.

During this time frame Sputnik had been lauched by the USSR. The U.S defence department became more alarmed over these events and in 1970 Petrik suggested a communications network be put in place. Petrik managed to convince the U.S Department of Defense. I will end it here.

I have mentioned Jargon quite a bit on this forum because it provides the Key to the whole internet. The Jargon file is a blueprint of the entire internet. Its a glossary of hacker slang and a collection of technical experts who gave rise to the internet. The people in Jargon are the pioneers of search engines, programs, in fact Bill Gates purchase his first script for $50,000 from a hacker. All programming languages have their roots in the Jargon file.

One of the first languages to come out of jargon was unix, imperfect it was. Linus Torvalds figured he could improve on the language and develeloped what we know today as linux. Although he made great improvmemnts, the problems persisted. The are well known exploits in linux which Google, Yahoo, and others know about.

I started playing around with computers around 1979. I learnt some stuff on a MItS Altair, and never stopped learning until one day dark day in 2000. Which I don’t care to mention. Because of my efforts and interests I have made some very close friends In Jargon. Regardless of what people think they are the internet and everything that goes with it. I do not know of any person or any company who can challenge the pioneers of the internet.

Under these circumstances, yes I do blow gaskets. Because I do know whats going on all the time. The 888.com thread from beginning to end was about making progress and dropping tibets of information hoping someone would draw some conclusions on their own. So when I was challenged on my findings or promises people were not only attacking me but also attacking Jargon, because each of my posts was taged. This caused me too worry because these people are not to be played with.

I have been permission to say this. Amongst the mirage ways of scraping, one in particular is most disturbing. I am not authorized to give exact details, but once a week a malicious hacker puts a script together and has scapers bid on it. These scripts are designed for specific sites. They are mainly gambling scripts The last one I saw was for bodog.com along with many others. I do my best to stop them, and in most cases I do, out of simple respect.

I believe in the persuit of the honest webmaster, honesty, integrity, and loyalty is my character. I enjoy helping out, offering advice and just plain being useful. But most of all I don’t like seeing people being screwed out of honest money and hard work, I know what it feels like.

To some extent the 888.com issue ended up in a better state. We as a team accomplished the goal to a certain degree. The thread was long a drawn out to acheive this goal.

I will be taking a few days off, just few. But will be back, I think Shelly will be doing her best form now on. Greek39
