I haven’t been there for a few days and decided to make this post before returning because I’m sure by now things might have changed; but before all this; (I’m guessing about a week ago) – the worst thing I saw said at Fergies board about Lou was my own post; which I did just as a poke in the ribs at Lou, not anything really meant; and all I said was, “well I came here to trash Lou, but now I can’t think of anything bad to say”.
at the time I thought it a cute joke. Now I wish i hadn’t even have said that.
Like Kevin, i have been around a while and DO read most the posts made here.
Quite frankly I feel the whole thing has been over/under reacted to by both parties;

Fergie should have told Lou about her intentions as soon as she decided to make it happen, rather than wait until she went live and then have Lou find out thru the grapevine. Tacky, but not anything I’d say was worth any hard feelings – please let me explain why.

There has been for some time IMHO an under current here at cap which carried to me the message that I’d better be careful what I say about any program which is listed here; or risk the threat of getting banned or perhaps a suspension.
Understandable. Lou has worked very hard to accomplish a gathering of a large variety of programs and lets face it: they are not going to keep returning to some place where they are continually bashed. Ain’t gonna happen. And you can accomplish a lot more by having SOME communication as opposed to NONE.
Now with that said: I, and I know for certain that there are others; would like to have some place to be able to go and completely speak my mind. To vent in full; rather than have to dance around the subject text simply because if I don’t; I’ll get in trouble. After that deal concerning Ark’s situation, quite frankly I don’t know where the boundries are anymore (here at CAP).
Personally on that deal, all I saw was him asking what makes a program certified. And next thing I knew he was gone. To be honest, I didn’t say anything for fear of same, and am nervous about mentioning it now.
But that’s just because i am for the most part a cautious person. On a side note: I don’t think the Prof should have to require anything more than this for certified, and i’ll say why after: “programs are eligible as long as they have not been proven to be blatant cheats, shavers or non-payers, and that the casinos they promote are not of the reputation for mistreating players”. – the reason is simple: most all programs have had their “less than shining moments”. if he kept all but the best of the best he’d have about 3 programs listed. Not feasible. And consider also that for example, my favorite Aussie/American duo make their best income off RTG. For me its MGS. Lou’s surfers might never find their golden goose if he doesn’t provide variety.
So anyway, we have two different agendas concerning CAP and Fergies site. IMHO. Ones which should be able to compliment each other; not compete against –
Lou doesn’t want that behavior here (and as I said; its completely understandable).
Fergie on the other hand, as I understood things; had created that site to accomodate the carry over from CAP. (the things that Lou didn’t want here).
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but as I understand it; Fergie was taken out as a mod when Lou found out she had created the site; and on top of that was using CAP for PMing/emailing members to tell them about it. I can’t remember how she contacted me, but I assume it was one or the other.
I heard that Lou was upset she was using CAP as a means to contact people about the new site.
Now here is the tricky part, which I am certain people will have varied views on the subject. At what point does a member, such as Fergie; who has been here … I’m guessing a year, give or take, cross the line from being a new walk-on who in that case; if they were contacting members to promote something in their self-interest, was nothing more than a spammer – to being …. for example, if I were to PM Krystall about my new board – Krystall and I talk all the time. although its true that I have more than just CAP as a way to contact her, lets say I had met her at CAP, then in that case its likely my most frequent way of contacting her would be using the PMs. Yet if Lou were to get pissed at me for using a PM to contact her about anything; I’d feel he was unjust in his approach. My using CAP’s PM is a way of drawing me here, which last I heard, is the whole idea of a website. To draw targeted traffic by means of providing services or information.
You see, I could have emailed her. But I chose the PM at CAP. So I don’t view that situation as one where I did anything wrong. In fact, I did Lou a good turn by choosing to use the service he offers as opposed to using the service that hotmail offers. (both of which I remind are created and offered as another way of drawing traffic).
Does anyone see what I am saying? I’m not for or against anybody. I just want to point out a few angles that some might not have seen.
Fergie’s site will never be competition to CAP, at least not unless he does something so offensive to such a large portion of the audience as to send them away. Other than that; CAP has way too much of a head start for any newbie to come along and dethrone it. So IMHO even if it were Fergie’s idea to compete with CAP, it would have been a fruitless effort.
Now here’s the reason I bring any of this up. Not to side with anybody but myself. I; we need the group of our peers to work together. stay connected. I wish CAP and gpwa would ammend and move forward for the better of all involved.
Every time we separate we hurt ourselves. Why is it so hard to agree to disagree yet still work together enough to accomplish mutual goals?
when I think of both Lou and Fergie, I think of reasonable, good-hearted people.
when I think of this most recent events, I get sick because its something that SO could have been avoided. And now its all blown all up to hell.
though if they truly searched their hearts; both parties would find that deep down they wish each other no ill-will. That they enjoyed their friendship prior to this tiff – and if both were willing to make an effort; this could be ammended.
Now I’m going to go post this at Fergies too; and when I get there I honestly don’t expect to see any posts made by her that aren’t without reason for her POV, and I will promise right now if I see any mean-spirited shots at Lou – it will be the last time I visit her site.
I hope this post is taken with the spirit it was written. I have no bad feelings towards Lou or Fergie (quite the opposite if you must know).
