We used to run a game room, whereby we rented the use of computers to play games online and for group lan games – games like counterstrike, starcraft, etc., (back when broadband connection was not in town, except at the gameroom, where we had it brought in at much expense) and I can tell you that, even if it’s legal to run the online gambling this way, it is a major pain in the arse to keep public computers in good shape and untampered with.
I used to spend a lot of time keeping the machines clean, deleting pesky scumware, formatting and the like. Most of the users didn’t know better than to fiddle with things. Even switching to windows 2000 and locking them as tight as possible didn’t prevent problems.
Just my 2 bits.
