If it is windows files corrupted, I recommend trying Internet Explorer repair.

I understand the errors appear to be coming from (windows) Explorer and not IE, however many many .dll’s are shared between the applications.

I would also recommend reinstalling or upgrading directx.

This kind of problem can also be tied in to the swap file becoming corrupt or memory starting to go bad, or the hard drive could be developing a bad sector in the system file area. A full scan disk can’t hurt, although can be very time consuming.

This could also be an application or virus loading at startup, which could be hidden in a run key in the registry, or a dll that is loading from the system folder.

If you have a tech or friend that could loan you/install a hard drive temporarily, I would unplug your c drive and do a fresh install of windows and run it a few hours….if the problem continues it’s hardware related….if that clears the problem it’s windows related.
