I’ve always found whether google actually display the sitelinks or not a bit random, I get 6 prominent links on some brand terms but not much elsewhere. Also the ones I’ve demoted through GWT still display regardless which is odd.
I think they’re worth having as they give the listing a decent level of standout, although whether or not they display must be linked into some authority-type ranking for the domain.

Did google give you a choice on which sitelinks you can use to display?

No, seems to pick the more powerful pages though so there’s an element of logic. With PPC you can prescribe them but not for natural search I believe.
Just activated mine today so let’s see what happens.
