Top Betting LinesMemberHi Rak
Coming to London to kill time will see you dropping into a few pubs sooner or later.
Rather than hanging out in a museum, I’d rather get some culinary treats on board such as a dim sum in China Town (off Leicester Square). Originally rude staff wherever you go, but brilliant food, especially at the joint with the green outside (till 17:00 – sorry, can’t remember the name). It’s right next to the Waxy O’Connors pub, which you should check out too. Looks small from the outside (just a plain door), but it’s a ‘belly and intestines’ of a pub on the inside, if that makes sense.
Sure, Covent Garden and all that are the touristy places, which you will see plenty of during the LAC nights anyway. I agree with grungy Camden though (up north), which has a great market and loads of ‘filthy’ old pubs. Generally speaking, wondering through central London is an easy undertaking, as everything is well connected, even by foot – Holborn (they’re doing one LAC night in the area), Convent Garden, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square and from there you’re not far from Embankment, which is right at the Thames.
The only pain in the a**e is the 23:00 pub law, which sees you desperately searching for another place when you just got in the mood.
And don’t forget, best of all – Big Ben… Only kidding…

InactiveEngland Brazil friendly on the 6th!!! hook me up!
Thanks Hermski! I hit China Town last year, did the Michelin star thing, and also a few “great only if know where to find it” places as well.
I don’t remember most of the pubs I got into… I have an allergy to alcohol, gives me a headache the next morning.
But doesn’t stop me drinking. Waxy’s has me curious… I love places with character!January 17, 2013 at 3:10 pm #831633

Martyn, that was perhaps the best drink a date has ever bought me – I’m calling it a date now… instead of sponging of you.

We did squeeze into a rickshaw.. and then you order an entire duck in Chinatown.. that duck was good. You know I went back to a little Japanese restaurant a few nights later up a dark ally… I got lost I had to ask for directions from hotels, cops, strangers… eventually found it. It was up da dark ally, no signage, with just a couple of big bouncers out front. Amazing place.

jslapataMemberI’d suggest China Town for dinner, there are lot of very good restaurants where you’ll find real Chinese food!
Every time I go to London I spend some hours in Camden Town and Covent Garden, if you never been there, go! -
