PngigdgaMemberIts a smaller sample size so the results will always be skewed.

misswiggMemberIf you were stoned it would make sense that you would play online rather than leave the house

Whoa…. interesting… I can see how that would make sense, however.
Although this is a small sampling of data that this study works with, do you find knowing this information to help? Please know that I’m not an advocate of taking advantage of anyone, especially for something as serious as battling with any sort of substance abuse problem.
However, by knowing that you may have a “partier” database, perhaps changing how you market to them may help increase conversions?

armida.marchesiMemberyou mean as in “sign up and get a free ounce of purple kush” with it…

InactiveTo be honest, I don’t too much trust in that report.. it seems to be trying to create a perception of gambling being illicit like weed and booze… booze illict.. well not realy but you know what i mean.
They should do a report and also see how many people who play COD MW3 (google it if you dont know what it is) .. who play online, smoke weed and drink booze.

InactiveI’m not surprised that stoners would prefer all kinds of ‘home entertainment’, I am surprised that they have the money, stability and sense to be able to make electroninc transactions.
Maybe I better start cross promoting that wine affiliate program I belong to.
I’ll bet tatoos would also fit in that niche.Did they ever do a study on 70 year old women smokers and also find a correlation to offline casino gambling?

InactiveThere is probably something to it indirectly. More likely a large chunk of the offline/online players are part of another subset of players where there is a more direct correlation.
This either/or fallacy definitely illustrates the Authors view and strongly suggests the bias of the study’s author (or for the cynical among us, the angle he is taking for funding.)

Touche, bingoadvantage… Also, it could have to do with the the variable of only 111 online gamblers were analyzed… As Boy Mitchell mentioned earlier, with such a small sampling, it’s hard to determine if the findings can truly be accurate.

InactiveYes, it’s a toy study to be sure – there isn’t any conclusion to be made. Its like throwing in the line for funding and there is the matter of keeping your publication count up. I’m really not as cynical as I sound.
Googled the study author.

Is this why the industry took a serious dip when Ted Kennedy died?
