In organic search – nothing they can do, or want to do.

In PPC search: most have a policy in their T&Cs (contract) with you that you are not allowed to bid on their name.

Some casinos will also try and stop you from registering their brand names and have it as part of their terms and conditions – although whether it is enforceable, i don’t know.

eg top-888-casino.com (not sure if this is a suitable example)

What I am getting at, is that if you rank your top-888-casino.com highly in the engines, the casino might say you are encroaching on their trademark brand and request that you hand the domain over.

We had MG at one time demand we hand over our site to them but it was all worked out in the end. It is best to read all the terms very carefully so you do not breach the contract.

Why did they demand you hand it over?

If you register the exact name that is trademarked by the casino, this is not allowed. I once took out virgincasino.org and they wouldn’t let me promote it on the web. If you outrank them in organic searches (without having their brand name in your domain), they can’t do anything about it.

Yeah, I do not think you are allowed to rank with a trademark domain. I know some say in their TOS as an affiliate you are not allowed to optimise a page for their trademark KWs, which they should not have rights over.

If you ranked them in the number 1 position than fair enough, anything under this should be acceptable.

I reckon the SE rules are always should be like that about it. No buts with PPC.
