I guess you are trying to get football Betting hits? well you have sportsbets in your domain – the most powerful word you can use – SO USE IT
Something like Football Sportsbets Online (just an example)

why in the world who you put betfair at the top of the page when you don’t have a link for them? don’t do any favours for them – they won’t do any for you

Move this to the bottom of the
RSS Subscription Email Subscription Follow me on Twitter

and get those 6 square banners at the top (even better if you put them and the whole side panel on the left)

Do blogs on the World Cup Now – so google might actually index them by the time it starts

I would also make the text a little darker – gray on gray – get a little washed out

other then that – it won’t make me watch football – but it looks good

It was actually just an article logo, but I guess u r right, I put up a link with it.

About the banners and subscription links, what’s the benefit of doing that if they are above the scroll zone?

Thanks for the tip about posting about WC2010 i will look into that.

As for the text it’s @ #66666 atm, I guess going for #33333 or darker will be ok, I will try that out.

    Thnx for your response.

You have 1/2 a second to get a click and maybe that whale – that person does not care about rss, email or twitter – I want you to go to a web page – where do you look first – top left — I bet- then your eyes scroll across to the right (if you stay on that site for more than a second)
top banners on the left get the most hits

with that said – if you don’t want to move the right panel – i would suggest – for example – the Barclays Premier League image – doesn’t any of your affiliates have that logo on it – and in turn make it clickable – to a betting site

Thanks for the suggestion, that’s a good idea indeed. Is there such a thing as too many affiliate links.

Because as much as I wanna moneytize the blog, I love what I blog about as well and don’t wanna make it look too “out there” trying to catch a sign up with any chance I get .

Yes – I guess you can have too many links but 6 is not that much
I think 95% of people have no idea what an affiliate link is

someone who knows about what we do will copy and paste the url

Remember – there are always new gamblers

Maybe what you can so is get a link a frame or rss feed – with your aff id and create a page with “todays live football odds” – make sure it’s your most trusted affiliate partner – if people are interested in betting they will go to that page

something like this – I have for horse racing

I think a blog is a great way to do reviews – then you could have an affiliate link, but be actually truthful about the product. When I read reviews I look at the bad reviews too because then I know there IS truth in them and there is not just a paid advertisement.

For getting hits up I recommend some social media marketing – are you on facebook, twitter? Do you post about your blog there, as well as little snippets about yourself? (ah, I see you are on twitter, so there is a start).

I also think that maybe you could decorate your title more. While the ads stand out, and they should, I think making the blog name stand out too would help as well.

Thanks for all of the replies. I wrote down few key things I will work on. Yup I am on twitter and facebook, and via rss feeder, whatever is posted on the blog goes to twitter as well.

I will look into the idea about the tittle see what I can make out of it. I guess it doesn’t have to be anything cheesy and fancy, but just more eye catching.

    All good comments above.

When I first went there, I did not like it for some reason.
Then after reading the comments I realized it was the gray background.
Especially since there is no separation of the gray side areas and the gray text area.

The banners stick out nicely but they would also do that with a white background

Thanks for the comment, I changed it to white, although I can’t really see that big of a difference.

As mentioned earlier, give the banners a more prominent position, but I guess it is template, so maybe not so easy to change, so maybe looking into changing the template.

Also, in your opening texts, where you now write about Bayern Munich v Lyon you should have some text links to some operators there. I see that more people click on text links if they are interested in the things you are writing, and they believe you they will click on a link, sign up and make a bet.

Also as mentoned by Shotgunpete, try to add a oddscomparison feature or something like that. Or a xml feed from the best converting site.

If you are having any email subscribers, I can give you a €5 free bet, just for players to sign up with.

    Good luck!

I took Shotgunpete’s idea about placing a link on the article image, which in fact turned out to generate more clicks.

As for the XML feed, I didn’t find a way to easily implement one in WordPress. To be honest I didn’t find a way to implement it the hard way either

I know u need a parser, just haven’t been able to find one for wordpress. As for the titles, again, i have to change the very core functions of wordpress to change the title link.
