Interesting, I love my little netbook. It runs on XP because Vista is too heavy.
I do like google chrome, although I am not using it as primary browser. It’s nice and sleek. Hopefully the OS will be the same.
Anyone think that Google will become the new beast, imo it’s already halfway there. A lot of people are predicting Google ChromeOS to be the next big thing and they may have a point.
I would really like it if someone could start eating into Googles search engine share, it’s terrifying to rely on the wims of their algo updates. :nervous:
Bing is starting to. I use Bing now for personal searches, it too displays some of the large sales network like netshops on top, but it has the mouseover displaying content and I don’t click through to as many of them when searching but get right down to the truly informative smaller sites on my topic. If you shop online, Bing is already a lot better.

I definitely feel like google has a huge foot in, but whether or not it could shift Microsoft.. I don’t know. I think the user bases for Windows and MSN in places like China are so huge, you couldn’t even compare it to the small conversion rates in the US. Sure, I and millions of others have probably changed from hotmail to gmail over the last 5, but my parents still like hotmail.

I love my Netbook too, but it’s not quite suitable for our industry. The resolution of most netbooks means the depth is 600, not 640 (at present anyway). So Playtech casinos for example don’t fit and you can’t resize them. Almost unplayable as you can’t see your balance. MG just fits everything in view, just, but only if you hide your windows program bar.
I like competition, as long as it doesn’t cause me extra hassle designing websites. That’s the main reason I hate Firefox…pain in the arse with CSS. And Google Chrome shouldn’t affect us web devs too much if at all so bring it on
The key to its success IMO will be who Google partner with to get it distributed ‘cos your everyday mum/dad/sister/brother aren’t going to bother installing a new o/s, only the techie folks. Hasn’t stopped me registering some domains though
Yeah I think I will have to get a bit larger notebook, this one is great for traveling to conferences where I work really hard(not really :roflmao:) but for trips where I need to work it is crap and very small.

The reason Microsoft has so many bugs is due to two separate teams designing and creating the one software, whereas Apple for example doesn’t have nearly as many bugs because they have one team working together..
If Google has more than one team working like microsoft do, they are doomed from the beginning IMO. Its like trying to line up half a circle with a triangle. It might work in some parts, but mostly it’s crap.

I know what you mean I’ve gone one of those tiny Sony Vaio’s, great little computer but just too damned small to do any proper work on but then I don’t like working on laptops full stop, I’m too old school and need a proper mouse and keyboard.
