Maybe it’s the time of year. Definitely slow for Sportsbetting…
However, this should be a good time for UK betting, we’ll see… I mean there’s lots of soccer going on right now.

No – there isn’t much European soccer going on right now. The Confederations Cup doesn’t really cut it – nor does Euro-U21 action. Football (soccer) action on holiday until August.

So anyways, back to my topic, why is there no Sports Betting section here?

Probably because this is casino affiliate programs …. C-A-S-I-N-O …

Football season is over, and you need to call it football in the UK not ‘soccer’ its as big a faux pas as confusing American and Canadian accents. There is one big game left this year Exeter(The giant killers) v Spurs in July, I’ll be at the game if any other Aff’s are in the South West.

As TheGooner mentioned I echo that it is slow for American and European sports, and we are all waiting for the football season to start in both Europe and America (Late August, beginning of September).

I find the quietest month for sportsbooks is July, and the busiest month by far is September. Hang in there and start ramping up your site for the coming months.

Love the enthusiasm … (come on Exeter!) …
But it won’t be a betting promotional opportunity …

Also to Daweller – online sports betting in the US has a wee bit of a stigma attached to it thanks to the often quoted Wire Act – drafted way back in 1959 (I think). I believe that in this act there was specific mention of betting on sports … poker and casino were not mentioned because back thne no-one ever thought that this betting was possible “over wire”.

The “Wire Act” was to do with telephone betting across state lines, but it appears that it has been successfully used by government agencies against internet sportsbooks too – thus causing a much discussed “grey area” around sports within the US.

Add in some high powered lobby groups, for horse racing and NFL, and the land based casino, and online sports betting has come a bit of a pariah in the US … so sports betting tends to fly under theradar a bit in the US – compared to it’s mainstream activity in Europe and Australasia.

That being said – if you want to start a sports betting thread from time to time – I’d certainly read it and take part if I could provide smoe input!

Granted that nothing beats the football season (in any country), there is always something to bet on these days. You have MLB, some boxing/ufc bouts, golf, horses, etc.

It also sux there is no sports betting forum – if someone comes with a good one, I would be first to join. It’s a bit of surprise, given that the sports betting webmasters are much more “friendly” than casino or poker. This is probably one of the main reasons I do run a few small betting sites, since my profit from sports betting is yet to touch the online casinos…

You have got wimbledon and Golf on right now which are great events to bet on… MLB tends to attract sharks so I advise not putting too much money in recruiting these players.

I ran a sportsbook affiliate forum at VIPProfits, as well as do a little through http://forum.wheretobet.com. I would like to put a complete one together but before I do this I need to do my homework and see the potential benefits this will have for me as well as the sportsbook affiliates. The majority of sportsbook affiliates like just getting on with things.

With my recent post as affiliate manager for http://www.bet365affiliates.com I am unsure how much time I would have in running the forum to bring in the best results.

Hey, it’s not just that British football isn’t going on … the NBA and most European basketball leagues are done, NFL and NCAA (American) football isn’t anywhere near to starting, and nobody knows how to bet American baseball this year because the non-performing non-steroid users haven’t been determined yet. Crummy time of year for sports in general, never mind sports betting, but wagering on Wimbledon might perk things up a little, eh?

    Cheers,
    Os.

Thanks for the helpful posts , people.
Ya I keep doing this, every June or July I make some whiny post about how slow it is. Oh well, I think the discussion was healthy.
But hey I don’t think people stop betting on casino games in the summer ( although hot weather means people are out more ), so I should just focus more on that until about mid August or so.

I think the new proposed bill would doom sports betting as illegal, while regulating online casinos and poker…
