InactiveAfter the grand prive episode they are worthless.

InactiveI think this is a reaction to that episode.
The new aff program certification would include AUDITING the program backends – something I have pushed for as long as I have been in this biz.
Of course they can’t audit those who do not voluntarily submit to it. Grand Prive did not allow access to the aff program (for good reason we found out). So eCOGRA had nothing in hand.
But, if we can get auditing of aff programs in place, the ones who submit to it will definitely be a better bet for us than those who don’t.
No other industry goes unaudited, it’s time we got the benefit. I would definitely like to see a lot of programs joining and I will definitely prefer programs who are audited on a regular basis. It’s a no brainer.

AlmanatorMemberAny program worth anything would join. If they don’t, one would have to ask why and what don’t they want us to know.
Even still, I have to see it to believe it and hope better regulation and auditing gets put into place and is widly accepted.

InactiveOnly solution is to force Seal holders to also have their Aff programs audited as well.

InactiveI have to say that I don’t have a whole lot of faith in ecogra. But this can only help, not hurt.
Only time will tell how much this will benefit us.

InactiveThis is a step in the right direction. It won’t hurt for sure

Fixed your post.

Hardly imo. We all Remember CAP :Certified Programs” cough. hand over 10k and that was you.
how do u audit a whitelabel for example?
sure their payments might go out to affils okay, but how do u find skimmers for example? This isn’t going to turn up in any audit.
also, how do u know if the software is “dodgy” if it’s 3rd party software – obviously you can’t find this out without auditing the servers behind the skin, like that’s ever going to happen
imo all this “certification” crap boils down to is an entity charging 10k for a pretty meaningless certification. I would love it if someone could prove me wrong..

InactiveeCOGRA is not CAP. What eCOGRA proposes is true certification with testing and audits, like brick and mortar audits. You can go to their site and get a lot more info on how it’s actually done, or contact Andrew, he tends to be very responsive to queries.

neophyteMemberThe following steps provide a general outline of eCOGRA’s process for awarding the Safe and Fair Seal to online gaming operators.
1. All information relevant to the performance of an eGAP review is submitted to the operator, and relevant 3rd parties (software providers and service providers).
2. The eCOGRA Compliance and Advisory Services department performs the eGAP review and submits a report to the Independent Directors regarding eGAP compliance by the operator, and its 3rd parties.
3. eCOGRA’s Independent Directors may request additional information from the operator and 3rd parties;
4. Award of the Seal is based on the eGAP compliance report and any other information which has come to the Independent Directors’ attention;
5. A License Agreement is entered into between eCOGRA and the approved operator;
6. The operator and relevant 3rd parties submit to ongoing eGAP compliance reviews to maintain the Seal.
very nebulous indeed.
#1 99% of software is 3rd party. software providers are not going to be themselves audited imo.
#2 ??? What does the review consist of?
#5 — licence agreement???Need more info, this is as vague as vague can be.

maybe one of the programs who are stumping up 10k for “certification” might comment.. maybe ECogra might comment. I’m bloody surprised nobody asks these questions.. Jeez..
