    What page did you modify?

I never heard of anyone losing 50% of traffic due to some changes, only in the case in which those changes affected pages that were getting a lot of google traffic.

I think it may be a sitemap.xml issue.

Since I originally made this post, I deleted sitemap.xml from my server and removed from Google Tools and traffic seems to be picking up hourly.

I have had trouble with WordPress and Sitemapping since day one. For some reason, when I try to make sitemaps using WP plugins and other sitemap generators, the uploaded sitemap.xml returns a 404/not found when it clearly was in the WP directory. I can upload that same xml file to my root directory where it seems to work fine.

I have attempted sitemap generation from both my main root directory as well as just the wordpress directory and get the same results.

I am curious as to why xml (and actually html) pages return the 404 when located in my wordpress directory. Could it be a permissions issue?

I think I should begin mirroring my wp blog via static html pages and then concentrate on seo.

Any other advise will be most welcomed.

BTW… my site DOES get the majority of traffic from Google

Here is what I think happened.

The plugin you used to create the sitemap wasn’t that good, so it created a sitemap that, let’s say confused google, by uploading it to the google webmaster tools. That sitemap in fact damaged some of your google rankings, but for those kind of changes take some time for you to notice any results (either positive or negative), and that would be the only question sign on whether that’s what really happened.

I would have one suggestion for you, as you are using wordpress.Install the all in one seo pack, that seems to be the best one.I know a lot of wordpress users that have seen improvements after installing it.

    And to answer your question

“I am curious as to why xml (and actually html) pages return the 404 when located in my wordpress directory. Could it be a permissions issue?”

I believe it has something to so with your htaccess file.Where it is placed and the path for the rewriten files.I might be wrong as I don’t know more about your particular case, but from what you told me, that should be the case.

Well… I updated my main index with a basic HTML template. I am still getting some validation errors (however, I noticed that bot Yahoo, Google and so many other sites also do not get validation)

In fact, CAP index returns 260 Errors, 71 warning(s) at: http://validator.w3.org/

This leads to another question… how important can this be?

Anyway, feedback on the new design will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi magyck0ne,

There’s quite a list of points raised at http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fonline-gambling-newz.com%2F&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0, including things like unclosed tags, and seemingly ill-defined transitional or strict schemas.

It looks to me as though the PHP plugin is also producing code that perhaps doesn’t meet Google’s standards for on-page quality, even though your content is very good.

This could affect Googlebot’s ability to sift through your content and therefore – ultimately- to index it. I would guess this is why you’ve seen problems with indexing.

A sitemap problem can’t help, either!

Your on-site content is very good and organised nicely, even though there’s a lot of details on there.

Where are your bingo promotions? You’ll find that because bingo a less saturated niche market, with great player loyalty, bingo might well provide you with a longer-term profitability that is equal to, or in excess, of those you’re getting from casino promotions.

    Cheers,
    Jon.

Sorry, Alex. Not quite sure if I follow what you mean. :)

What would you recommend for magyck0ne? Do you think it’s a mark-up problem?
