InactiveThe folks at Income Access, run http://www.ShareResults.com, which deals with non-gaming affiliate programs. They also offer their software as a white label.
I run an affiliate program for my Carbon Offsetting site at shareresults: http://www.shareresults.com/local_affiliate_desc.php?mid=12037
Sarafina, Jamie and others on the team are participants on CAP.

InactiveAll you need to know is how cookie tracking works in a programming language of your choice and pick one or two payment providers via which you want to pay your affiliates. Moneybookers, epassporte and some others offer this. Also many merchant account providers have affiliate systems built in which you could use.
If you make one from scratch somebody with PHP experience could make one in a couple of hours. It’s not that complicated really.

InactiveI don’t know why anyone would create an affiliate tracking program, as a prerequisite to launching an affiliate program when there are at least a dozen established networks, with 1000s of affiliates looking for offers. The small and midsize programs can get you started for $1000 out of pocket.
Creating your own software seems like a reasonable goal, if you have an Aff program and you find problems that can’t be solved with a custom solution. The advantage of a 3rd party is that 1) they have 1000s of potential affliates waiting for new programs. 2) with all the accusations of shaving/dirty dealing here, working thru a 3rd party shoul help your program’s transparency.

InactiveI would suggest looking at either Affiliate window or affiliate future, they are quite big in the UK affiliate industry. In terms of startup costs it’s going to vary wildly on the network you choose (especially if you go with someone like CJ).
The other option is running your own affiliate program but this ofcourse bring in extra costs (hiring staff. promotion etc)
Checkout the forums on http://www.affiliates4u.com their are plenty of affiliate networks and experienced affiliate managers for mainstream sites on their.November 4, 2008 at 11:03 am #785345Anonymous

mikih34MemberDeveloping an affiliate backoffice takes money and efforts (and time..? ).
On the other hand.. its 100% control..I Dont know how wise will it be going for affiliates that are looking for offers on a network with a NEW program.. can have some problems there..

supervinceMemberYou friend will probably get better results using one of the larger affiliate networks because they already have thousands of affiliates looking for offers to promote but if he wants the freedom and control of running his own affiliate program, feel free to send him my info and I can develop one for him.

PngigdgaMemberI’d go Affiliate Future. The others mentioned (CJ, Paid On Results, Awin, Tradedoubler etc) have a hefty set up fee (up to £5000), which has to be recouped from your sales.
Affiliate Future is only £750 I think. They also have a good rep in the industry.
if you want more info i can always get you in contact with the top guys there. pm me and i’ll set you up with msn addresses for them and you can have a chat.

InactiveI needed an affiliate program for my software and decided to have it written only because I will have 100% control and it customized to my needs and therefore it’s worth the expense IMO.
