mchilgerMemberI wish I knew too – but I suspect it is not even worth trying to understand why these random pages occasionally jump in importance. It is just the vagaries of the Google algos.
One of my most successful affiliate accounts is from a small UK casino which I never really promoted – yet somehow I make tons of money from it. I wish I could replicate that.

triplecrownMemberI made a few “ninja sites” about a year ago. With no “SEO”, they are ranking better that my main site.
I think the reason could be I am over optimizing for a particular keyword and getting a penalty.

This could be the case, however just a thought – rankings also have a tiny bit to do with page popularity too dont they?
So if your page suddenly gets a lot of traffic from the search engine (even if its on a few pages back) the SE may say ‘oh hey this page must be important again coz so many people are clicking on it after searching for XX XX XXXXX’Long shot, i know. Thats the only constructive theory i could come up with..
