Question about purchasing website shares

i’ve seen one guy selling shares of his “poker room” which was more like a plain website using downloadable software from another poker room. although he did raise some capital, he never made any money and the venture never got anywhere.

i do a few 50/50 joint ventures with people around the world that seem to work out for us both, sort of franchise one of my sites for want of a better description
