The topic of fuel makes me pretty angry so I’m going to choose not to read this article…
At the moment we are paying almost $1.60 per litre…
To put that in perspective, 1 gallon = 3.78541178 litreSo if you guys over in the US are paying $4/gallon.. you are paying $0.94/litre
Which means we are paying almost twice as much for our fuel.. and thats standard fuel, not premium.For someone who spends over $600/month on fuel JUST TO GET TO WORK AND BACK, you can imagine why it gives me the shits (Aussie for ‘it makes me really angry’).
The funniest thing is that it costs me less to drive to work from where i live now than to actually move to Sydney (I live approx 1.5-2 hours away).Stupid politicians and their taxes on everything.
GrrrrI believe taxes in europe are even higher but I think one thing people need to realize is at some point we will have to find ways to pollute less and find ways to be more efficient in the things we do. We all know oil is a finite resource and I think we are just beginning to feel the pressure to change our ways. This discussion makes me want to talk about another discussion of the some of the changes in the world markets and ways of living that will probably happen in our time. I do find it odd that car manufacturers have always had the technology to make our vehicles more efficient but maybe the oil companies had more influence on this.
it is also possible that the current price of oil/gas does not reflect the actual reality (supply and demand for oil). here is a good article on it – Perhaps 60% of today’s oil price is pure speculation.
