supervinceMemberI definitely agree that poker is a skill game but there is much more too it than just telling someone to play fewer hands. A good poker player will develop their table image, play the right hands in the right position, study their opponent, know when to get out of a hand, know when to steal blinds, calculate pot odds, play off their opponents weaknesses, know when to bluff at a pot, and so much more. There is a lot involved when it comes to playing poker and anyone who sits down at a table thinking otherwise might as well just give away all their money.
I think the ones doing that academic study could have been a little less lazy and provided a more in-depth study which would have proven their theory without a doubt. Then again… who needs an academic study when we see the same pros at the final tables of every large tournament.

Two things hit me …
1) The quality of doctoral studies is obviously not high there …
2) Empirical evidence is usually the weakest – “I saw it happen so it must ALWAYS be true” -especially over a massive 200 hands …
:tongue:I don’t know anyone who thinks “winning at poker is 50% luck” …
