Well that depends on who your asking haha. For me it almost certainly would have an extremely positive impact. Regulation means just that… and at this moment, it seems our industry is dominated by a few affiliates (you know who you are). That would likely mean that the new guys would get a better chance with more opportunities and a more even playing field. This same progression is evident in the upcoming changes in Google’s algorithms as well. Level playing fields mean a greater change for the smaller guys in general…but if you were to ask the affiliates that are making real money they will probably be singing a different tune.

Another question is will they actually do it, and for a long time I was still saying no way for 2013. But now that I’m reading that the brick and mortar casinos are estimated to loose 10% on average from the Feds dragging their feet….there may be hope after all. Nothing moves regulation and legislation faster than big tax dollars going bye bye.

depends on how it is regulated !
each state on there own or can you play with other states ?
what is my comission % is this the same for each state?
are there cpa’s available and do they vary by state?
How much is each marketing fee I need to pay per each state ( we know Nevada is 3k what would califonia’s fee be?how about the little state of Rhode Island?
How much additional cost would be added per year per state ? office lease spaced, mail forwarding , hell insurance on the empty rental.

Is the state guaranteeing me that I will get my due commisions ?
what about cross promoting will I get paid for that is a casino does that ?

I got a lot more questions on this

oh yea the Feds have already said it up to each state .. so whats the hold up ? oh how to steal more money for the USA taxpayers?

My answer is divided into two parts. The fact is that if and when the U.S. opens up as a market, the major operators will already have marketing departments and vehicles in place. In particular, the land-based operators who’ll be dipping into the online market for the first time have gigantic email lists of potential players (who’ve visited their properties before) to market to.
So, on the one hand, they won’t truly “need” affiliates.
On the other hand, let’s say I’m off on my assumption… in all likelihood they’re going to want to hook up with those superaffiliates who already dominate the affiliate marketplace…
If you’re not one of those superaffiliates (and if you’re scouring these messageboards, you probably aren’t at that level), it might be wise to try and ride their coattails as a subaffiliate, if allowed under whatever laws eventually get passed.

I am entirely turned off by the look of the new legal landscape.

The states will be first to OK some form of legal online gaming. But participation will be limited to intrastate gaming with ‘big money’ companies. Eventually some of it may trickle down to the small operator, but not a lot. The paranoia about avoiding unscrupulous operators extends too far. As a ‘regular’ individual person, you won’t be able to earn enough to make it worth the effort.

With the extra layer of bureaucratic regulation, taxation and ‘fat’ , the era of a meaningful ‘rev share’ will be over. Once again the US will ‘screw up ‘ the entire online gaming industry.

Fed or no fed, we’re ‘screwed’!

Initially it will be on a state by state basis – with local authorities attempting to set barriers to entry in order to protect the large land based organisations that want to get into the gravy train. This will not be a good time for US facing affiliates.

However, eventually, the US Federal government will want in on the tax action, as will the specialist online operators, and we will see a scenario play out that will require skilful online marketing with affiliates.
