InactiveYes, this is indeed a trick some webmasters are using.
Thats why I would recommend to only exchange links with websites that have good Google rankings for gambling related terms.

InactiveI typically only exchange with CAP / GPWA members… and AGD members (of course).
I do look at all websites, though, and make sure that they are ‘on the up and up’.

This is really good advice and something I think a lot of newbies fail to understand. You get far more weight with google from a link on a directly related page going after similar keywords and I wish I understood this earlier in the game.
Edit: Actually let me clarify, I didn’t mean to insinuate that new webmasters don’t know the obvious benefit of getting gambling related links. Only to take it a step further. For example if your going after “poker bonus codes” and have a choice between 1 webpage going after online poker that has 1K incoming links, then another webpage going after poker bonus codes with only 500 incoming links, I choose the second option.

BOORADLEYMemberBonusGeek, James you both right
That is why I think you should always look for sites that are the most related to your keywords, and of course a honest website.
Don’t jump on each link that you find…
1 quality link is worte much more then 10 fakes.December 10, 2007 at 11:40 pm #756159Anonymous
InactiveMany also are blinded by PR value. I had a site that got a pr 7 but i didnt rank well for the main keyword (non gambling) got +-2 visits a day
heck i dont know why google gave it pr 7!!
now it dropped to 2 but took 6 months…
so… pr has nothing to do with traffic
