InactivePoker, grass roots. Haven’t really considered mass media.

InactiveIt seems to be working for me. I have a one-line ad in a few papers…use other things like biz cards with a yearly calendar on the back…I give it to people I meet when we happen to discuss online gambling. I also give out pens and matches, etc. Each has diff urls on them, so I can tell where the traffic comes from, but they all redirect to same site(s), depending on if it’s poker, bingo, blackjack etc. The ad is deal that has several papers for $100 for six months. The other stuff is $100-$200 per order, which lasts about six months per order. So I’m not spending a lot of money here. I don’t mind sharing b/c there is no one else in my market!!
I usually get 1-2 nice new depositors each month. Some I’ve acquired have been playing at the same place for years, making their usual deposits month after month. People who make an effort to type in your site are very interested in what you have to offer, and are usually ready to play as well.
Matter of fact, I was at the Imaging Center this morning, and happened to talk to a guy who had played online, but didn’t like the site. I gave him my card, and maybe he’ll check it out. If he does, most likely he will play somewhere from my link.

InactiveHas anyone had any experience with leaflet drops?. I’m not sure on the legallity of this (in the UK), although I seem to recall a flyer coming through my door advertising some bingo site.

InactiveThanks for the feed back. It seems like hard but essentially rewarding work. I never really thought about taking out ads in newspapers though..

InactiveI am personally against flyers, just that I don’t like getting them myself, and it seems “pushy” somehow.
I originally took the ad b/c of the special deal I was offered. It’s just one line with the url, but it’s cheap enough. I think it’s in six newspapers across my state.

InactiveBefore you pass out flyers, I suggest that you check with city hall. I’m a real estate broker also and about 5 years ago the various cities in my area made it illegal to pass out flyers of any kind.
As for business cards, I use them all the time. Especially, when I go to Vegas every 3 weeks to make my deposit.
In regards to placing an ad in the newspaper, I like the idea. But, I’m afraid to get the government on my back – they generally don’t like competition!October 18, 2007 at 8:44 pm #751705Anonymous
GuestHappy to hear its working for you Liz but I’m with B: afraid I’ll attract the wrong attention. just my luck I’d get some nobody wanting to make assist prosecutor here where i live seeing my ad lol.

vladcizsolMemberOffline marketing can work, but you have to be very careful. As bb1 said you can easily attract the wrong attention. The Orange County Sheriffs department questioned me about some things I was doing locally and I was lead to believe it would be best if I stopped, so I did.
If you are going to do some offline promo please remember this!!!!
FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE STAY AWAY FROM OFFLINE PROMOTION OF SPORTS BETTING!!!
You can get tossed in the can very quickly for this and if the cops dont get ya first then the local “boys” might be annoyed that you are tapping their customers. Neither one is very desirable.

InactiveActually, my ads are in “targeted” areas…there are casinos all over my state, and there are papers specifically outletted in these areas. and the same ppl also publish other gambling related papers. My ads go to ppl who are already interested. They are one line ads with my url, as I said. Since I don’t promote sportsbetting on any of my sites, that’s not an issue for me.
Believe me, when I’m at a poker table in a casino, you’d better believe I’m giving out my stuff to everyone at the table, and anyone else who wants it, even the sheriff!
