I have to agree with you, it’s the people.

We don’t have a union per se, but we don’t need to formalize the sense of community and support.

When push comes to shove, we stick together and support each other and present a pretty united front.

That’s especially remarkable since we are just about as diverse as you can be. Different cultures, ages, lifestyles and life experiences, and still we all come together.

Yes we are competitors, but we exist on our own personal merits and help each other do so.

I also have to say that some programs have proven over the years to be reliable and supportive and are a valid part of the community.

We also always welcome newcomers, it’s not cliquish, and I like that openess a lot too.

When you go to the conventions, that becomes even more clear.

We all need to stick together and watch out for each other. In a political climate as unclear as ours, many would resort to infighting as a result of the stress, but we have chosen to support each other instead.

The community is why I love working in this industry, and why I volunteer my time here freely.
