    Good post :)

I think the same way… I was going to quit some time ago and about as soon as that thought crossed my mind, I got a new whale and I was ‘hooked’ again! It seems every time I think to give it all up – I get more income.

It’s like they don’t want me to go away! :)

Gambling is the industry where hunting for whales is not prohibited and I like it

It’s really much like any business you created yourself.

I have always been self employed and each venture has been equally mesmerizing.

Tweaking it this way and that, landing “whales” or whatever you want to call big customers. It’s all very exciting and working for yourself is infinitely more captivating than any employment you could ever have.

gotta admit there’s a certain RUSH in our line of work – from the stiff and tough competition landing on SERPs to retaining players, sustaining traffic and revenue. so yeah, addicted to that rush here…

    Hi all,

while I’m probably more an addict than I care to admit ….. I say with some sincerity … you guys are crazy!

I’ve a family to support that counts on my income. the gambling part of it is making me old before my time. Perhaps I don’t make enough to enjoy the luxury.

its especially hard when you try to keep your integrity thru it all. *ask mr Int and I think he’ll agree.

it ……like anything else ……comes down to money. I love the people in this industry ….. many of you have the most outstanding integrity of any group of people I’ve ever encountered.

counter this with the scum we must endure in this industry …… and it only makes those with morals …… stand out that much more.

all that said….. and so close to heart …. would I trade you all and all the respect I’ve gained over the years for an income that is even half …. 1/4 the income I enjoy now ….. if traded to selling ………..for instance credit cards ….. ….

in a second. Its my family I MUST think of first. Thus the reason I am sometimes so forgiving for what others are so quick to condemn. Its all perspective.

its one thing to bet my ass on a situation. a whole nother ball game when talking my kids and those i love. I hope this post is taken in such perspective. Its never a personal agenda. Frankly I could live in a cave sharing it with a bear ……. as long he/she doesn’t have control of the remote. :)

I have to disagree with this. I would never rely on gambling to support me or my family. If you know what you are doing then you DO know if your efforts will improve your business. Careful planning and testing and learning from your mistakes will help. If your just throwing your money and time out there crossing your fingers and hoping for a good ROI then your destined to fail.

Thats all true. But what about professional gamblers?

I’m sure planning and learning help – no doubt about it, but could you say you can plan the next movement of Google? Or predict with 100% accuracy the next country where online gambling will be banned?

    Agree with Maxus and all.
Because as for me my business is really like real gambling. And I really like my business and planning to become a professional in this niche.

I am enjoying it very much to be a part of the gambling industrie.

Being realistic it’s the best thing that could happen to me.

The last years was tough but since a half year a so I earn more as I have ever could staying employed in the company I’ve been.

How could I gamble for money?
Seeing my stats and my income through players.

I am so happy that I can be on the side of the bank.
Being an affiliate makes me feel like having a share of a casino.

Of course I gamble to try out a casino but only for virtual cash.
I play poker, too. Only freerolls though.

I was really surprised seeing the results at the polls thread “do you gamble”.

This is so true. I know one casino owner who owns 2 casino’s and several play halls, and I never met a guy more opposed to the gambling of his relatives and friends. He went totally crazy over his son depositing $5 in a poker room, and it’s not like he is short of money…

I don’t see how a casino owner (or affiliate) could gamble after seeing the stats of his players.

Your right you cannot plan googles next algorithm change and as we have seen before you can be ranked #1 one day and nowhere to be found the next. But if you dont rely on just google alone for all your income then you wont be completely wiped out when it happens. You already know its a high possibility that it can happen again so why not prepare for it?

Same thing for the countries being banned. If all your marketing is targeted at one country and they get a gambling ban then of course your going to get wiped out.

I agree that there are many risks involved in this business but if you take the appropriate steps to minimize these risks then you should be ok. But then who knows maybe the US government will ban the internet next and I will get wiped out.

The part that the income can fluctuate is a bad side effect of the industry, IMO.

I much prefer a steady, predictable income. Filling advertising spots with many different properties helps offset that.

I disagree that gambling is bad. If you gamble trying to make a profit at it, that’s not good.

Gambling is simply a form of entertainment, and the players I like to attract are those that see it as such. They budget the money they want to spend, and every month they enjoy the games they like. The huge variety of available games caters to this type gambler. It’s not so much “winning or losing” to this type gambler, it’s pure entertainment and added is the possibility that they might hit a big one while having fun.

Actually, the majority of gamblers thinks this way, and that’s a good thing. Otherwise problem gamblers would abound. As is they are a very tiny percentage. The percentage of people who drink alcohol and become alcoholics is much, much higher.

I am always trying to score higher too.

My next goal will be to earn more than an engineer.
As I could have studied but decided not to do.

I believe; I am better of here with our professor and all the students here.
