InactiveWell it depends how much need your users have to post direct working links and/or pictures.
IF you’re getting spammed to oblivion then really clamp down.
(1) Dont allow URLs or pictures on forum.
(2) Auto delete ANY blog comments that contain http://That should cut your work by 90% – there’s no point spammers bothering if they cant post links …

InactiveI just went through 7000+ e-mails, 7 thousand, all market “link exchange”
What happens is i have these forms on my site for exchanging links and they get bombarded by this cialis/viagra/vietnamese real estate/stock crap
these forms…
http://www.superiorgaming.net/linkexchange.html
The problem is, about 100 of those requests were legitimate
What i see some people doing is putting up their e-mail like this on their site
me at yahoo dot com
without the link
krist man, must i battle robots now too, like i don’t have enough problems
i recently downloaded Spam Fighter for my e-mail, it’s not too bad
for forums i dont know, i haven’t the patience to run a forum, but i had a few and they all got linked to death
just take a look at this one, please
wtf are you supposed to do with that, not one real post/thread, not one real user, just a bunch of robots going back and forth
i wouldnt mind so much if they actually talked about sports, yet its funny in a way that i dont even wanna take it down, maybe all the spam bots will just spend their time on my spam friendly(cuz i dont give a crap)forum, and spare the rest of you.
what can you do, if i could kill em i would
P.S.
You gotta see my forum, it has over 14 000 posts, it’ll pass CAP by next week, every one is spam, they cant possibly be humans doing that, what the hell

jamblingMemberFirst off , OMG Nick!
I don’t visit lots of different forums, even so I’ve never seen anything like that. I haven’t tried to register at your site, just did a quick tour. My suggestion would be registration with security images same for posting messages, you know those hard to read pictures of numbers you’ve gotta copy before you can submit something.
For some CMS’ there are free and easy to implement modules available. It won’t help againt human spammer but will make it harder for bots.
For Lady Hold’em,
Are you using a registration system which requires an email confirmation/check coupled to a time delay so you can check applicants?
