In my experience, private freerolls have not converted well for the affiliates we have worked with. Private freerolls with some sort of playing requirement do work well however. You will receive less players but more real money players as a result.

http://www.focalclick.comGot that right. There is an entire subculture of freeroll whores who spend their poker day just hitting up freerolls. There are enough freerolls, either site sponsored or private, to keep these folks busy.
Some of them can get downright pissy if you don’t give them the password to your event. Pretty funny when you consider that their value to you is a big fat zero.
I run several forums and participate in a few others. The same group of leeches can be found at any forum that runs a password protected freeroll. They don’t help your bottom line because they’ll never deposit at a poker room you promote, and they really don’t help your forum because the only time they post is “freeroll time!”…..
“Almost Freerolls” are a better option. Low buy-ins and in many cases the poker room will add a little $$ to the prize pool. This cuts down the 0 value leech traffic to your site, and at the same time helps build “community” among forum members who want to play together but don’t want to blow their whole bankroll to do so.
Mark’s suggestion is a good one too. Players get in after they play a certain number of raked hands, frequent player points, etc. You want to pitch your promos to players who have shown they’re ok with making a deposit, as opposed to cheap skates or underage kids who can’t deposit and are making the freeroll rounds.
