InactiveGo to the site and do a SAVE AS on the page… if you use IE… that will grab the html, pics, css, ect….

InactiveAnd the same for every page on the site I presume? I’d have thought there’d be a quicker way.
Maybe I should just leave it where it is at ibuilt, I’m starting to get the hang of it – but is it hosted in the US? If so I’ll have to leave anyway.

InactiveI use a program called WinHTTrack Website Copier for tasks such as this. It’s freeware and is available at http://www.httrack.com.
You can set the parameters to include/exclude any file types and set mirror depth for whatever you need.

InactiveSounds good – what’s mirror depth?

InactiveMaybe I’m missing something, but why not use an FTP utility?

InactiveI don’t see any download options in the ibuilt website manager.

Inactivehttrack downloaded the site but it doesn’t seem right somehow – it’s left traces of itself all over the pages and it’s possible google could punish that as content theft. I don’t want to download a mirrored site – it’s the exact same domain and everything, just a swift download and upload will do fine! But is it that simple?

InactiveUse an FTP client, such as smart ftp. Quick download and upload.

InactiveFilezilla is the one I use.
Usually you use your domain name as username and your domain login password as the password for the ftp client setting.

InactiveThe WinHTTrack program leaves a comment tag at the top and bottom of each page. I just remove them when I move sites from one server to another. Being in the hosting business for 7 years, I have found this to be the easiest method when someone switches their hosting to me.
Mirror depth= depth of internal/external links it will follow and download along with the site. I usually set it to 2 max, otherwise it will pull whole directories from other sites when all you really want is 1 link or banner

InactiveWell guess what – I got an email from ibuilt support saying it was ILLEGAL to sell any aspect of the site, let alone move it to another host, so I guess I’m stuck with it. I’m not sure what to think at this point…

InactiveI’ve managed to gain ftp access but everything is empty – it is only set for upload! How can they do this? How can I not be able to see the files that are there? I use cuteftp.

Inactivehe owl
seems very unlickely,
did you check all the folders?
go up and down the treeor upload a script with wich you can download?
(idea from my son)btw, i feel with you
i finalle got a website off, from yahoo, a nightmare, not talking abot the @#$% coding….
must rebuild it…..November 4, 2006 at 9:15 pm #714583Anonymous
InactiveYes, it’s very bizarre indeed. The ftp site info they give must not be the genuine site but a go between where you upload and then its transfered to the real directory/server so that’s why there’s nothing there. That’s my guess anyway I really am not comfortable with this technical stuff!

Inactivewe are pretty sure a php script as said above must exist
but we arent very technical either
