InactiveThe part that you are missing is that the US Gov feels as though they are exempt of the laws, just because they created the laws doesn’t mean they have to follow them, how else do you explain the fact that they already arrested people in the online gambling industry

affiliategodMemberFantastic article, bonusstreak! Thanks for posting!
There was a segment on my local new this moring and it clearly stated that online gambling was NOT illegal. It was illegal for banks and cc companys to fund gambling accounts. As far as I knew, that is the way it has always been. IMO, nothing has changed regarding the financial aspect. It simply makes it a bit more difficult. Again, the news did stress that gambling is NOT illegal. How to fund? Well, I am sure a way will come out in the future.

very true but wasnt that due to the fact that they violated the wire act which is indeed a law?

InactiveI’m sorry Bonustreak, i always get you confused with Bonusgeek, another member here, you’re a girl, right ?, not that it matters, i just remember one is a boy and one is a girl
I wasn’t disagreeing with you about the law, i had thought that was the case as well, and thought there was no reason for changes to take place
But many people got panicked, and i’m sure they had their reasons, the most obvious one to me was that they don’t trust the US Gov, no matter what the law says, they seem to change the law at will anyway
And they have arrested people for playing poker in their homes on a number of occassions, as well, they raided the Bodog guys house in Costa Rica under suspicion that he was hosting a poker game.
So poker is not as safe as Mr Lawyer guy is making it out to be

Yeap.. last time I looked I had all the girlie parts, if it didn’t matter then why did you ask?
For your info the Bodog raid was not about a poker game, that was the excuse that was made, and another thing it was not the US government that performed the raid. Calvin loved every minute of the attention he received from that in fact he probably orchestrated the entire ordeal!
I am not getting into a pissing match with you Nick, you have been picking fights all weekend with people, take a chill pill and go relax some, go out get some fresh air and enjoy your day.

InactiveWhat happened was
I was talking to Bonusgeek about gambling via PM today, and i thought this was his thread as we were talking about the same time, i seem to get you two confused frequently
Then realizing this was not my buddy, but instead someone else, i tried to back out graciously by agreeing, although someone claiming that the owner of a top sportsbook loved having his home raided by 200 cops was the stupidest thing i have ever heard, i decided to ignore it
But that just wasn’t good enough, you had to take a shot
Now i will return the favour by exposing your “Cardplayer Lawyer” for the dumbass that she really is
Here is a story about her you might enjoy
Earlier this year I was reading Card Player online when I noticed that many cover stories were being written by someone I had never heard of named Allyn Jaffrey. Apparently she is or was an attorney, and also plays poker. I thought that she was a mediocre writer at best and could never figure out how she went from someone I had never even heard of to writing most of the cover stories for the magazine, especially when they had many writers who were much better in their stable.
This month’s issue however cleared it all up for me. She was banging the owner.
The newest magazine has her name written as Allyn Jaffrey Shulman. Good old America for you. Who needs writing skills or personality when you can just sleep with the owner of a leading poker magazine? This explains a lot.
See, I never could stand reading her writing. She comes off as that type of bubbly, pretentious, annoying personality that you always want to drop kick at a party. I could even tolerate that if she threw some hardballs at her interview subjects as well, or at least asked them questions to which anyone would want to know the answer. Instead she seems to just look at previous interviews on PokerPages with the subject and ask them the same questions. Don’t believe me? Go to PokerPages and read their article on Doyle Brunson, then read hers in CardPlayer. I think they have at least 90% of the same material.
She makes it even more of a shame that Andy Glazer died. He was one of the few people who got to write some cover stories during the last year, and he actually asked interesting questions. Andy’s writing was enjoyable, Allyn Jaffrey’s is about as fun to read as the average prenuptial agreement. Andy portrayed an image of himself (and an honest one too from what I hear) of a guy you would like to meet, Allyn seems more like the chick at the party on Seinfeld who keeps talking about her fiancée. “My fiancée would love this caviar. My fiancée just bought a new Mercedes. My fiancée owns a magazine so I gave him a few blowjobs and now I write the cover stories.”
So my question is what do I have to do to get a job at Card Player? I am not gay so there goes sleeping with the owner. I think Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher carry a lot of weight around there (no pun intended) but even if I were single and very drunk I couldn’t bring myself to perform sexual favors on either of them for a column. Even if it was the cover. And apparently having even a slight modicum of talent doesn’t count for anything. Neither does being able to beat a $5/$10 hold’em game, because at least 50% of their writers likely couldn’t. Guess I will just have to blog on and hope some day my girlfriend starts a magazine about something which I know nothing about. Then its cover time.http://www.thepokerchronicles.com/archives/000331.html
And there are many more
I’m so sure Johnny Cochrane, Shapiro and those guys used to call her up for legal advice all the time
Some people are just total flakes and completely out to lunch
Cardplayer you just lost major respect
