vladcizsolMemberIt’s done. Bush signed it and as expected made absolutely no mention of the included anti gambling provisions. He didnt even stick around for questions.
Now we see what the real effects are going to be…

InactiveJust watched it on Fox News (couldn’t find CNN on Sky UK), and as predicted in the big run up to signing the Safe Port Act – absolutely NO MENTION of the ban on online gambling which the reporters said afterwards..
No comment from the Whitehouse on whether or not it should have been even in there or not..
I get the impression this guy just reads what he’s told to read and obviously doesn’t read things himselves before signing.
Hmmm so what’s next I wonder ….

InactiveThe bill from my understanding only makes transactions to online gambling sites a little more difficult. This is all i got from it.

What a crock of :bullshit: that truly made me sick! How the heck are people supposed to know about this bill if they dont talk about it? Was he worried if he spoke about it his ratings would drop even further? What a bunch of crooks.
We really need to band together and get the word out more than ever now, we have to inform as many people as possible!

InactiveI watched both Fox News and CNN, and although Bush made no mention, analysts on both stations mentioned it afterwards. Fox basically just reiterated the rhetoric about how it will prevent underage gambling, money laundering, etc. On CNN (only got the last part), the newcaster just mentioned the banking angle, but had an unusually wry grin on his face the whole time.
Anyway, it’s done. Any US webmaster with links are now presumably breaking the law.

InactiveOn CNN, they did a brief bit on the fact that he did not mention anything about the Gambling language in the bill…
The reporter there said President Bush agreed with it so he signed

Thats what I understood as well. Does not say anything about online gambling actually being illegal only that credit card companies and financial institutions couldnt allow gambling debts to be paid via the internet. If this is all it is, it is pretty much been this way for a while and shouldnt really affect anything so why are the casinos freaking out?

How are we breaking any laws?

InactiveI think John’s point of view is certainly a worth a read – it certainly made me feel better for the US folk

After seeing it my initial reaction was ‘oh shoot’ (well ruder than that lol), but having read John’s synopsis post I do feel a bit more comfortable that basically rushing it through (and really doing it the wrong way) may mean things don’t go their way… Forever hopeful

Guestquestion:
okay, if I put my domain names over to someone outside the states … what’s the chances of big brother knocking on my door?
I mean, if the owner of the website lives outside the states … then how could it come back on me?
