InactiveWhy am I increasingly under the impression that Frist and Fans want to get rid of foreign operators in order to launch their own regulated online gambling outfits with Las Vegas running the show ? :hmmm:

Corporations run the Govt., which is simply a ‘front’. The whole thing is a big arse pyramid scheme. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if what you suggested happens.

InactiveCan’t say exactly what my host just told me but it sounds pretty darn good. I reside in Canada my host is in the U.S.
Your affiliate links, ranking and traffic are completely irrelevant….Are you taking any money directly??? No you are not…Backend affiliate commissions do not count.
Trust me on this one….You are on our servers…We are liable for any and all content on our servers..
If an issue did arise they would throw me overseas.

InactiveJust spoke with my lawyer from Seattle. He laughed into histerics over my concerns. In a nutshell, that will be the day the U.S Government tells the American public where they can spend their money. This is the same feeling I share, unconstitutional and it will be challenged.

InactiveGlimmer of hope? What exactly is the hope? Sure for players there might be hope that one day they will be able to legally gamble online, but for us affiliates there isnt much hope.
Vegas / land based casinos are not going to need affiliates to advertise for them. I would guess that most of the casinos you see today would vanish if the landbased casinos moved in, they simply would not be able to compete.

InactiveGreek, what you shared regarding your Hosting company’s and Lawyer’s attitude is a breath of fresh air amid all the doom and gloom.
Thanks!

Sure we may lose the U.S market but Europe is just as big.

The law did not expand the wire act.
The idea that we are aiding & abetting — the crime is committed by the bank or credit card company. The idea that we are aiding and abetting the the bank or credit card company in the commission of a crime — I’ll take my chances for now.

InactivePORTER VOTES AGAINST INTERNET GAMBLING BAN – Continues fight for comprehensive study of online wagering
Tuesday July 11, 2006WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Third District Congressman Jon Porter voted against H.R. 4411, the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act. The bill, which makes online wagering illegal and increases penalties for violations, passed the House by a 317 – 93 vote and now awaits action in the Senate.
“The impact of Internet gambling reaches far and wide, which is why we need to have a comprehensive understanding of its effects, both socially and economically, before making any rash decisions about its future,” said Porter. “Unfortunately, a majority of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle chose to move forward with an online gaming ban despite having limited information on this evolving technology. Regardless of today’s vote, I will continue to drum up support for an Internet gaming study.”
In late May, Porter introduced H.R. 5474, the Internet Gambling Study Commission Act, which establishes a commission to examine the impact of online gambling. Nevada Representatives Jim Gibbons and Shelley Berkley are original co-sponsors of the bipartisan legislation, which will result in the first study of its kind.
H.R. 5474 will establish a bipartisan Internet Gambling Study Commission, which consists of nine appointed members. The Commission will conduct a comprehensive study of Internet gambling, including the existing legal framework that governs activities and transactions. Within eighteen months, the Commission will submit a report on their findings and conclusions to the President and Congress, which will contain recommendations, if any, for legislative or administrative action.
The Internet Gambling Study Commission Act currently has 47 co-sponsors.
