Maybe Excel works fine and I’m just not good enough at it

If you´re really good at it, you can make it work like a small scale database by using functions such as index match or vlookup. The next step up would be MS Access as you get all the same functionality you are looking for and its more user friendly for database needs.

Yep, a little bit of access goes a long way.

i.e, I use it to calculate my revenue, ROI, cost per click, earning per click, and a ton of other metrics in my PPC campaigns and It really helps when making decisions. I was basically blind before.

I’m sure building something to suit your kw needs shouldn’t be to difficult

It all boils down to storing and manipulating your data in a database. If you want to get geekier then you may want to use a scripting language to tap into a mysql database or use navicat to combine mysql and excel.
