Things are working for now, i found a very intresting and detailed hacking script on my server in my forums directory, possibly it was also loaded onto other websites/servers effected. I have passed it onto hostgator and hopefully they will be able to see how this php exploit works and manages to re-apear.

I also found a very interesting script a while ago in my root directory at bluehost. It was a complete remote access suite – just a single .php file though. Incredible that these hackers can cripple an entire host just like that.

It seems that these hackers have control or had control of thousands of servers at various large hosting companies, it took hostgator a while to figure out how it works even with the help of some of the worlds best security experts, nobody had ever seen anything quite like this.

The problem is that there is such a large space where people can earn millions through cybercrime. It is a matter of time until these funds will be used to employ criminal top geeks that will help the fraudsters to pull off large scale attacks like that.

That’s really nasty… that is why all my best sites are on VPS (virtual private servers). What happens to an account on the same server, doesn’t affect mine. They are all separated.

Good luck on the recovery! Be sure no other root kits are hidden somewhere…
