I’ve heard some noise about BoS refusing to pay affiliates. Is anyone experiencing problems here at CAP?

That is what they say at the shrink.

There is no proof of it, and since they have always been good and just sustained a big blow, I would be inclined to wait a bit.

Could be but no real proof, and it’s not a good thing to kick someone when they are down.

It’s too early. Give them a breather. They need to sort things, a lot of things. In this case, pressure will not help. This is not what they want to be doing, they are in a forced situation and trying to climb out.

    I suggest patience.

That would be part of the climbing out.

In this case, if I did sports which I don’t, I would carry them for free for a bit.

I am sorry for what happened to them.

According to court records; they have clearly broken laws and you feel sorry for them? If they are stiffing affiliates you should be feeling sorry for them, not the stiffers.

    Anyone else not being paid?

Considering they fired all their employees and closed their doors, along with the fact that there are threats from the DOJ to keep all funds…there is a very good probability that the affiliates will not get any of their funds owed.

It´s time to mention them in a bit of a “rogue” context. I may start to blog soon. If they broke the law it´s their problem if they go down the drain but they shouldn´t drag everyone else with them.

    I disagree.

The US government is to blame here.

And – if BOS goes down, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

It’s the beginning of the end of US citizens placing sports bets online.

This is a tragedy if ever I saw one.

And it is certainly no BOS’ choice to be driven out of business by the United Stated Government.

Uncle Sam is why you are not getting paid, and why this is only the beginning.

And you bet I feel for poor David. That man doesn’t belong in jail.

Well, I thought the differentiating factor here is that they took bets over the phone which is in violation of this “wire act” which does not apply to other online betting outfits?

I.e. if above statement is right the other places should be safe.

This is true, however, many of them do take bets over the phone.

I totally agree with Dominique on this point and I do feel for David as he was always the most outspoken supporter of the industry in terms of battling the US laws and this is his payback?

With respect to BetonSports “breaking the laws” of the “wire act”, then EVERY online sportsbook, online casino and online poker room is in violation – and as Dom mentioned this is just the beginning and BoS is being used as the example case to go after EVERY online gambling entity.

You can call the telephone support desk for poker rooms and casinos, could this not be stretched to be interpreted as “accepting, facillitating or supporting” the taking of wages in an “illegal business”

A “law” is subject to interpretation and considering this particular law is from 1961, well before the Internet..I do believe it is subject to being “re-evaluated”. You should really read the context of this law and see that it really totally does not apply here for legal offshore gambling.

I would think that in 2006 with legal regulated off-shore casinos in their own jurisdiction, and support by the World Trade Organization that US Citizens would be able to make up there own minds what they want to do with their own money.

Are US Citizens not allowed to decide where they spend their money and rejects all International trade rulings. This Citizens of the USA have to stand up for their rights and demand that the government stay out of their personal affairs.

Here is the definition of Fascism: “A philosophy or system of government that is marked by stringent social and economic control, a strong, centralized government usually headed by a dictator, and often a policy of belligerent nationalism.” (From The American Heritage Dictionary). Does that not sound familar.

An interesting article on this topic
    xxhttp://www.couplescompany.com/Features/Politics/Structure3.htm

Online Gambling for US citizens is now at risk and the people and media is basically letting this happen.

Considering that over half of the players in the latest WSOP tournament came from qualifying in online poker rooms – makes you wonder what is going to happen next.

Will the US Government then determine that those who are promoting online casinos, poker rooms and sportsbooks aiding and abetting these illegal activities by trying to recruit players into these illegal enterprises (with the analogy of a dope pusher)…I guess we will see soon at CAC..and if the government wants to target all of us who promote these “illegal businesses”.
If you read the indictment of BoS closely it does mention those “legal incorporated businesses under the jurisdiction of the United States and other foreign countries” who are affiliated with BoS and assisted in the active recruitment of US citizens….

Just my two cents for the day.
